Avoiding Stress: 3 Healthy Habits That Will Change Your Life


What do you think is currently the number one health problem facing people today… diabetes… high blood pressure… cancer? Well, guess again. As you can probably guess from the title of this article, the world’s number one health problem today is stress, why? Because many people who seek medical help have stress-related illnesses, especially cardiovascular illnesses or illnesses that involve our heart and circulatory system.

These are illnesses that stress can lead to. Stress has now been attributed as risk factors for diseases. To avoid and maintain a stress-free life, and avoid developing diseases, here are 3 healthy habits to help you with.

Firstly Exercise. Staying healthy by having a morning jog, going to the gym, yoga, aerobics or other regular exercise helps reduce stress and lets you handle it better. One way of reducing and managing stress is to give yourself a workout to flush all the toxins from your body. When your body is healthy, diseases cannot easily get the best of you.

Exercise also provides you with relaxation and can serve as a distraction from the stresses in life. Exercise helps keep a calm mind allowing you to work on your problems and it will help you in making proper decisions.

Second get enough sleep and take a breather. Allow yourself to relax and take a break from work, it helps. Even a 5 min break between work hours helps a lot. Get enough rest and sleep. Working all day tires all your body systems, and lack of sleep may alter your decisions and critical thinking skills, so get enough rest from time to time.

The average and recommended hours of sleep is 6-8 hours but this does not apply to all. Not all of us are used to sleeping that much and we get enough rest with 5 hours of sleep. Every individual is different, as we are unique in every way. The bottom line is, have adequate rest and sleep, so your body to replenish itself.

Third eat Healthy. Together with exercise, and enough sleep, eating a healthy meal is also imperative. Most of diseases’ risk factors include lifestyle, and in lifestyle eating habits are a given. Diseases like diabetes and the like can be aggravated or can be made worse by unhealthy eating habits.

Eat a balanced diet, not too much and not too little. If you do not like vegetables, try to get used to eating them by gradually adding it to your meals, a little at a time. Too much of something is bad as well as too little of it. Stay well by eating right.

These 3 habits will definitely reduce the risk of acquiring stress-related illnesses. Do not wait until it is too late. Take care of yourself for a stress-free life.
